Briana is the Coordinator of Residential Services for Women Aware. She is inspired by Chief Operating Officer Maria Betanzos because her passion for her work and clients shines through in every conversation. Briana’s favorite place in the world is Aruba; she would most like to visit Australia; and the last book she read was Becoming by Michelle Obama. While her work is her primary passion, Briana recently discovered the joys of trying and testing new recipes and looks forward to taking cooking classes. If she could, she would most like to trade places with colleague Mildred Torres, coordinator of advocacy services. Briana received her undergraduate degree in Criminal Justice with a minor in Criminology so the idea of serving as a compassionate, knowledgeable bridge between domestic violence victims and the justice system is very appealing. Of the many clients Briana has worked with through the safe house, there is one whom she will never forget. A strong, independent, brave young woman came to the shelter eight months’ pregnant and gave birth to a strong baby girl that she named Briana.
