Rachel is a Domestic Violence Liaison with Women Aware. She draws inspiration from her mom, her Aunt Lois, and her partner. Rachel is deeply passionate about empowering and assisting survivors of gender-based violence. Her favorite place in the world is Washington, D.C., especially when cherry blossoms are in full bloom. If Rachel had the opportunity to travel anywhere in the world, she would choose to go to Japan. Her favorite meal is a braised short rib with mashed potatoes. The last book Rachel read was Know My Name: A Memoir by Chanel Miller. When asked who she would most like to trade places with, Rachel said her cat, as he is really living his best life and is spoiled constantly. As a DVL, Rachel works closely with the Division of Child Protection and Permanency and connects victim-survivors to the services that are most helpful to them. She recalls a special case. “I worked with a woman who was able to flee her very dangerous relationship and obtain a Final Restraining Order with the support of Women Aware’s Legal Advocates. This client’s resiliency inspires me on a daily basis to continue doing the work that I do!”
