WOMEN AWARE, INC. ANNOUNCES USED CELL PHONE COLLECTION DRIVE
IN THE NAME OF FUNDRAISING

Proceeds from collection can raise thousands of dollars for much needed programs and services.
New Brunswick, NJ, October 22, 2008

Women Aware, Inc announced today the kickoff of our cell phone fundraising program. Proceeds from the collection efforts will be applied to funding established to helping victims of domestic violence with various financial needs, such as attorney fees and/or rent.

"Donating a used, unwanted cell phone allows community members to donate to an important cause without reaching into their wallets," stated Women Aware." With the hundreds of thousands of used cell phones sitting idly in our community, the fundraising potential is almost limitless."

Women Aware, Inc has partnered with Shelter Alliance (www.shelteralliance.net), a Miramar, Florida firm that specializes in the logistics and underwriting of fundraising programs through the collection and responsible recycling of used cellular phones. Shelter Alliance currently works with over 2000 social service organizations in 50 states and has contributed over $5,000,000 to participating organizations.

Cell phone collection "drop boxes" are currently established at the following locations in the community:

  • Wachovia, 120 Albany St., New Brunswick

  • Middlesex County College, 140 New St., New Brunswick

  • Eric B. Chandler Health Center, 277 George St., New Brunswick

  • PRAB, 90 Jersey Ave., New Brunswick

  • Women Aware requests and appreciates that the public bring their used, unwanted cell phones and battery to these locations during working hours.

Women Aware is additionally soliciting local businesses to initiate collection campaigns with its employees, customers and vendors. We encourage businesses of all types to participate in this program. Please contact Lynn Kelly at 732-937-9525 or by email at lkelly@womenaware.net.
